Still Going!

It's been awhile since I've updated my progress, but I'm still going strong!  I took my measurements on Monday and I have lost a total of 10 lbs and 2 inches on my waist!!!  I'm happy I'm losing weight and inches, but I wanted to be down more than this.  I just need to keep going, eating clean, small portions, no sweets, no Pepsi :( and I need to keep working out hard.  As I told you before, I hired a trainer and I have had two sessions with her and they were hard workouts, but I also signed up for her Bootcamp classes.  Holy Crap!  Now those are a hard workout!  I love them!  Granted, I am sore in areas that I didn't know could get sore, but No Pain, No Gain!  (Gain=Lose weight and inches)
My diet is still restricted, but I am tempted by everything I see.  I have to keep in mind why I am doing this, it isn't just for weight loss and looking better.  I am doing this to be healthier so my kids don't have to know what its like to be without a mom.  I want to be around a long time to see my grand kids (gulp).  So, when I start to contemplate stopping at Taco Bell or eating a doughnut, I have to remember why I'm doing this and keep going.  A bonus is looking good in smaller jeans and winning this Body Challenge contest, but if I'm going to win, I need to make little changes to the diet, eat more protein, less carbs!

Another Day - Another Pound!

So, I didn't work out yesterday, but I woke up today feeling good and ready for the workout.  I did weights first. Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps.  I'm getting stronger and closer to where I left off before my looooong break.  I then did cardio, stair mill, eliptical, then treadmill.  I'm able to up the intensity more and I feel pretty good.  I am still keeping my calories at 1500.
I also took a pro-active role in my goal of losing weight fast, I hired a trainer at the gym for once a week thru the end of the challenge.  I will train with her once a week and I also will be taking a "bootcamp" class from her that should kick my butt!  How did I choose a trainer?  I watched the different trainers and the intensity of the people that they train and the personalities and I chose someone who pushes a little more, who doesn't do a lot of talking.  I don't need someone to be my friend, I need someone who will push me and help me to get the best out of the time I'm there.  If you have kids, you know that your time outside the gym is busy doing family stuff or working.  I have two hours a day (the time I can leave the kids in the daycare) to work out.
As I sit here telling you about my day and goals, my stomach is rumbling.  I'm hungry!  What will I eat?  NOT a candy bar! NOT fast food! I will make myself a protein shake and eat the other half of my pear!

Week 3

It has been a rough week.  I even gave into temptation to....candy!  Ughh!  I know! I know! The good news is that I didn't let it ruin all my progress.  I have been home more this week since both my kids have been sick and I don't feel that great either.  I haven't worked out yet today, but I will this afternoon.  I will try not to overdo it so that I don't get worse.  I don't want to miss a workout day.  Another one anyway.  I had to stay home Friday and Saturday because of the kids, but I cleaned the house Saturday and the office on Sunday so I stayed active both days.  It paid off too, because I weighed and took measurements today and I have lost another 2.5 lbs this week and lost more inches everywhere.  Its nice to see my hard work starting to pay off.
What lesson did I learn this past week?  I can slip on the diet and if I don't let it deter me and keep going I can still make progress, as long as I don't slip often.  Also, just because I don't make it to the gym, I can still get exercise at home.  I have to use some creativity, but I can do it.
